‘Dancing’ down to three
Looks like “Dancing With the Stars” has whittled possible replacements for departing co-host Samantha Harris down to three.
According to E! News, serious contenders for Samantha’s job are former ‘Dancing’ winners MelissaRycroft and Brooke Burke. Also in the running is Vanessa Minnillo — who dates Nick Lachey, brother of “Dancing” winner Drew Lachey.
The three reportedly will be tested in front of the cameras this week.
RobPat’s photo shoot
Sounds like Robert Pattinson has been taking lessons on the art of the celebrity interview from John “I Talk Too Much” Mayer.
In an interview with Details magazine, reportedly conducted while the “Twilight” star was under the influence of a beer or two, RobPat talked about a racy photo shoot he did for the mag.
He said being positioned between the legs of a female model made him, well, uncomfortable.
“I had no idea what to say to these girls. thank God I was hung over.”
Mayer a do-gooder. Really
The Isaac Foundation wants everyone to know that John Mayer still has at least one friend in this world.
After Mayer was hammered for his Playboy interview, the foundation, which raises money for children with a rare enzyme deficiency, took to its blog to say that Mayer is a “kind, caring and compassionate person” it has come to respect.
“I don’t care what Playboy magazine writes about the man, and I don’t care what John says to the journalists that write what they do about him,” writes the group’s founder, AndrewMcFadyen. “In America, it’s all part of the game.”
Mayer has donated to the group and spent time with Isaac, the group’s namesake and McFadyen’s son.
“I know he has said things that turn people off. I know he’s said things that make him sound like someone you would never want your children around — ever,” McFadyen writes.
“But I also know the person that he truly is and the good things he tries to accomplish with the celebrity status he’s achieved.”
Ricky Martin’s cause
Grammy winner Ricky Martin visited Puerto Rico earlier this week, but he had more than vacation on his mind.
He presented a study conducted by the nonprofit Ricky Martin Foundation, a group advocating children’s rights globally.
The 91-page report concludes that sex tourism and human trafficking are serious problems in Puerto Rico, and that the island is used as a transit point for smuggled women and children.
“This is happening on our island,” he said at the University of Puerto Rico. “We cannot turn our back on the victims.”
Officials with the U.S. State Department’s division of human-trafficking monitoring praised Martin for his efforts to call attention to the issue.
When Lisa Gutierrez isn’t hoping that RobPat takes care of his drinking problem, she’s Stargazing among halfway reliable accounts of celebrity news.
